Being away at the Annual London Baptist leaders conference last week, reminded me of the importance of the Baptist family we are a part of. Some of us will know this 'family' well and others will know little about it. We are, as a church, affiliated to the Baptist Union who support its churches and church leaders in all sorts of ways ( have a look at the website http://www.baptist.org.uk/
). The union is divided into regions across the country and regional team leaders are responsible for the churches in thier area. We are in the London Region. ( London Baptist Association, or LBA http://www.londonbaptist.org.uk/
) currently led by Phil Barnard (team leader) David Shosanya and Kumar Rajagopalan.
The regions are then divided into 'districts' ours being the Thames Valley District and each district has a minister leading it, ours is Rev Ken Walker from John Bunyan Baptist church in Kingston.
Next week we are fortunate to have Phil Barnard the leader of the LBA coming to speak at our Sunday service . We will be making it a special day by also having a lunch together which will give a chance for fellowship and for you to get to know Phil. David Shosanya who spoke at our opening service at Balaclava will also be visiting us, we hope, later in the year.
Do come next week, if you can, lunch will be provided and it would be a great opportunity to get to know newcomers to the church.
Our next special celebration will be on Easter Sunday, when we are planning communion at 9.15am breakfast at 9.45 am followed by an Easter and Baptism service... it promises to be great So don't miss it!
